On June 17, Springer Nature, a globally renowned academic publishing organization, held the awards ceremony for the 8th China New Development Awards at the Beijing International Book Fair. The ceremony was attended by Harmen van Paradijs, Global Head of Books and Executive Vice President of Springer Nature; Arnout Jacobs, President of Greater China; Nicola Jones, Director of the SDG Programme; and Christina Brian, Vice President of Business, Economics, Political Science and Law Books.

In his acceptance speech, Gong Binlei expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition from the awards committee, the support of the editorial team, and the contributions of his co-authors. He pointed out that carbon neutrality requires not only technological change but also a transformation in governance paradigms, calling for closer collaboration among government, markets, enterprises, and society. He expressed hope that the book would help international readers understand China's path of dual-carbon governance, and that China's experience in green transformation could offer reference and inspiration for other countries.

About the Book
Chinese Governance and Transformation towards Carbon Neutrality systematically examines China's dual-carbon governance and transformation from two perspectives—drawing on international experience and China's domestic top-level design—and across multiple levels ranging from the macro to the micro. The book emphasizes coordination and cooperation among governments at all levels, across different sectors, and between domestic and international actors, forming a multi-tiered governance system that encompasses the active participation of government, markets, industry, and society at large. The book consists of three main parts. The first part, drawing on international experience, discusses China's role and the path choices it has made within the context of global carbon neutrality efforts. The second part explores China's approach to dual-carbon governance by starting from the problems and challenges facing its dual-carbon transformation. The third part, building on the macro-level design of China's dual-carbon governance framework, further elaborates on the pathways for China's dual-carbon transformation at three distinct levels: market institution-building, industry responses, and micro-level actor behavior.
The research finds that government can play an important leadership and guiding role in the low-carbon transition. By formulating and implementing relevant policies, regulations, and plans, government can drive the progress of low-carbon development. Second, the full utilization of market mechanisms also plays a critical role. Through measures such as establishing carbon markets and promoting carbon pricing, market mechanisms have fostered innovation and application of low-carbon technologies. In addition, the active participation of industry is an indispensable factor in achieving low-carbon transformation. Both industry and agriculture have contributed to low-carbon development by promoting the efficient use of resources and the adoption of green production methods. Finally, raising public environmental awareness and participation is also essential; through public education, social organizations, and public engagement, the process of low-carbon transition can be effectively advanced.
